Day 115 - Waiting

I recently heard a concept that got me thinking... The whole earth is God's waiting room.

After all, what are we doing here? We are waiting to go home and trying to find our purpose while we're here.

We may be waiting on babies...

Waiting on a spouse....

Waiting on a new job...

Waiting for a new home...

Waiting for wisdom...

Waiting for our path to be illuminated...

But in the end, none of those things are the most important thing that we are waiting on.

We are waiting to go home.

Kinda puts the longings of this life in perspective for me!

I am thankful that I know where I am going and that I can't wait to get there.

I am thankful that the desires of my heart will not be withheld from me, but that I have a God who has promised to grant them.

I am thankful that my waiting is not in vain, but in joy!

Day 114 - The Giant Bear

"Teacher, can I pleeeeeeeaaaaaaase bring my giant bear to school tomorrow?"

His big blue eyes look pleadingly up at me as he awaits my answer.

I give a little shrug and say, "Sure!"

It was a simple request and I gave a quick answer. I never could have imagined the impact it would have on this child.

This morning he bounced in and told me that his mother would be bringing his bear in after a while. Since it was too big for him to carry, she was doing all the heavy lifting.

He wasted no time in telling me (and the rest of the class as well) that his special bear was going to be joining him for nap time.

He was so full of joy!

When we heard the little knock on the door I let him answer it, and in popped his mom with the enormous bear in hand.

He couldn't believe that he was allowed to be so happy. He couldn't believe that I had said yes.

Neither could his mom. She said "thank you" several times before leaving.

Watching him play through out the day has been so much fun. I didn't know that he would be so thrilled and blessed by this simple yes, but I am so glad that was my answer!

I began to think about the blessings that God grants to me. He knows the outcome. He knows what will bring joy and what will bring pain.

He doesn't have to wonder if He is making the right choice by granting or denying our requests.

What a blessing to have such kind and loving Heavenly Father.

I am thankful that God often grants me my giant teddy bear.

I am thankful that sometimes He doesn't.

I am thankful that I am not a spoiled child of God who is granted everything I desire.

I am thankful that I have been allowed to learn patience and gratefulness.

Day 113 - Chocolate {Tiny Tuesday}

Chocolate.

That word brings to many wonderful adjectives to mind.

Dark. Creamy. Luscious. Smooth. Delicious. Satisfying.

Yes, I am a little in love with chocolate.

It has gotten me through many a rough day. It's amazing what a little piece of 85% dark chocolate can do for your attitude.

I thought that I would have to give up chocolate when I found out that I was allergic to dairy. I had never been a fan of dark chocolate.

But now, 10 years later, the darker the better!

I am thankful for such a delicious creation that God made for us to discover.

I am thankful that my class doesn't like the dark chocolate that I keep in my desk. I can always count on it being there :-)

I am thankful that a little goes a long way to making the day better.

What is your favorite treat?

Day 112 - Answered Prayers

Today I almost didn't come to school. I woke up feeling so horribly that I didn't think I could patient, kind, and loving towards my little babies.

But I loaded up with allergy medicine and came in anyway. I was relying on God to get me through the day and to pour out His patience, kindness, and love through me.

I'm happy to say that God is as faithful as ever.

The student who has been such a behavior issue all year came in with an amazing attitude and has been so sweet and loving all morning.

The student who normally screams at the top of her lungs every time someone even looks at her has been blessedly quiet.

Thank you Lord for your provision today!

I am thankful that God knew exactly what I needed today and has granted it wholeheartedly.

I am thankful that I get to be here with my sweet little class.

I am thankful that my allergy medicine kicked in quickly.

I am thankful that God did not let me give in and stay home today.

Day 111 - Super Short Sunday

Woke up with a killer headache and a slight fever.

After sleeping for most of the day, I feel like I'll be able to make it through the school day tomorrow!

I am thankful that I was able to make it through the week before needing a full day to rest.

I am thankful that I was able to enjoy my full day class with my family yesterday.

I am thankful that sleep and prayer heals a multitude of health issues!

I hope your weekend has been restful too!
